2010 Detroit Sinks Their Teeth Into a Post Season Run

Who would have thought it, the Detroit Tigers in the hunt for October? This must mean that the world is coming to an end when we see the Tigers this early in the season in the position to make an impact in Baseball. Either that or the Tigers are winning by forfeit. Regardless of how they are doing it, the fact remains that the Tigers are winning and doing so quite well. July is not even here and the team is looking like they are a contender to be in the post season already. Could this be a sign of things to come for the second half of the season?

55 Down 107 to Go

So far the team has left a mark on the world of baseball. They are sitting in the driver seat as they have knocked out 55 games of their season, and are in second place in their division. This is about as good as it could get. They are sitting a mere three and a half back from the Twins and are hoping to close that gap by the All-Star Break. If they are able to do this, then when it comes time for the second half of the season, they could begin a run for the post season in first place. This would be the preferred place for them to be as then it would be up to them how the rest of the season went.

The Power is in the Bat

If you are looking for a reason that the team seems to be nearly unstoppable, then you need to make sure that you look towards the lineup. There is more power in the Tigers roster this season than in years past. If the team is able to keep from getting hurt, then the team will be in position to make a run for the postseason with the power that they currently have. Few players or fans for that matter would have seen this team being in the position that they are in at the moment. One word of caution to the Tigers though, this has happened before and they blew their chance when they tried a few years past. Hopefully this will be the year that they strike gold.

Pitching the Basic to any Good Team

There are a few fans that are quick to point out that the pitching rotation is also a huge part of the success that the team has experienced in recent years. It is true that a good bull pen is a key part to any team being able to get batters struck out and save runs from being scored on them. The pitching rotation is stronger than it has been in recent years, which is a large part of the reason that the team has had the success that they have so far into the season. If this continues to be the case, there will be nothing but good things that come from it. If this is not the case, then the team will slip further down and will lose any chance.

If you are one of the Detroit faithful, then you can hope that this season is going to be a true test of their talents, and that they will get back to their winning ways. If the team is able to make a successful run into the post season, then there is a decent chance at getting to the World Series.
