Longhorns On The Field

Texas football has been a prestigious program for many years. They currently play in the Big 12 Conference. They have been a member of this conference since 1996. Over the football program's history, Texas has claimed a total of four national championships. They've also claimed a total of 32 conference championships. The program has only had two previous Heisman Trophy winners though.

The NFL has been snatching up Texas players since 1938. A minimum on one Texas player drafted every season for 72 years. A team that has been ranked just outside the top 5 football schools in history. A team that has basically won 7 out of every 10 games ever played. Only two other powerhouses are better in terms of winning percentage.

They trail only 1 other team for total bowl appearances. They're also in the top 10 for total games played. Since the BCS started in 1998, the Longhorns have played in four BCS games. They have won 75% of those BCS appearances including a game for the coveted national championship five years ago. The other BCS victories came against two other powerhouse schools.

Men's Basketball

A team that has been playing basketball for over 100 years. Not to be left in the shadows of the football program, the basketball program has been very good as well. A team that has made the NCAA tournament every year since 1998. 220+ wins for the past 11 seasons as well.

A team that despite all the success can't claim a coveted national title. However, a proven track record of winning conference championships. A current man in command(Rick Barnes) that has success written all over his resume at Texas. He may have left Clemson but Texas was sure glad to get him. A coach at Texas that has won well over 70% of the games he's coached.

He has compiled a 294-115 coaching record in 12 seasons. Texas has a well known player that currently plays in the NBA & is becoming a star. Kevin Durant is this guy & he played for Texas in 2007 but left for the NBA after only one season. He currently plays for the Oklahoma City Thunder.

Men's Baseball

A haven for top college baseball play. A team that has won more games percentage-wise than than other other program. Only 1 other baseball team that has an advantage over them in victories too. A team that has been a regular in the tournament for college baseball's best(CWS). Not only just appearing, but, having the most victories as well.

USC & Texas are the top teams in college baseball for national championships. USC holds the advantage by getting 6 more titles. A team that has many decades of conference championships. Even sending some future Hall of Fame baseball players. The most well known commodity is Roger Clemens. The current man in command on the diamond is Augie Garrido. He is coming upon his 15th season at Texas. On May 30th , 2009, Texas holds the record for having played in a marathon game. The game goes down in history as longest baseball game to ever happen on the diamond.
