Even since they were first brought into the MLB, the Philadelphia Phillies have been a team that withstands the test of time, even if they haven't always been on top. They are undoubtedly fighters, ready to win championships which haven't come easily. The Braves and Blue Jays are two of their toughest opponents, and while they have seen a lot of good players, they have stayed a reasonably good team. Their jerseys are the colors of the American flag, which is appropriate for the team's spirit.
Roy Halladay and Joe Carter are two such players who have done a lot for the team over the years. Halladay was one to help the team win against the Marlins in May 2010. He pitched a great game that won. The team has gotten several MVP awards and championship players in its time as a major league team - Cole Hamels being one such player. In the way they could, the team has a marker to demonstrate their former field of Veterans Stadium.
Even though the team cannot really be considered a top MLB team, it is still fairly successful. While the Phillies have often played against more skilled teams, they have still made it to the world series more than a few times. In addition, they have a rivalry with the Mets that has persisted for a long time, and which has been a way for the two teams to compete in a fun way, with good sportsmanship - and a way to stir up their fans.
They have been around for more than 50 years and seen numerous victories. Some of these have won them pennant victories. They have played well even when faced with challenges. They haven't become a top MLB team but they've still gotten a lot of star players over the numerous years they have played - though many have been traded to other teams.
Indeed, no team can be solely gaged by how many games it has won - and this team is no different. The Phillies have stayed true to their home spirit by persisting through several stadium changes and the changes of their team coaches, something that is always tough for a team to endure.
The Phillies have really proven themselves capable of playing good games over several years. They haven't been able to make it to the top of the MLB rankings for their division but they have still been a good team for all their years. They will continue to build fans, and many of their fans are loyal to the Phillies alone.
It isn't possible to say the Phillies have done anything other than root themselves in the MLB's permanent records because of their dedication to being a good team even under tough times. They have had to deal with a lot of changes. They will still have many fans over the years, their base continuing to build.
While some of the team's fans have clamored about their jerseys, they are currently sticking to the design they have now. Time will tell whether or not this design stays popular with the team. The design of their jerseys is a largely individual thing so it is hard to say how much it will change in the coming years.
