Ask any of the faithful of the Colts what has happened to the team and you will more than likely not get any sort of answer. The reason for this is due to the fact that the team seems to have fallen apart in the past twelve games. There has been a lot of areas that the team has seen a failure in over the past few seasons. One of the biggest areas of concern, is that of the quarterback position.
Before the fans demand that the man be replaced and given to another team, let's look at the facts, he is one of the best quaterbacks to play the game in a long time. Few will argue that he is future Hall of Fame material and will be destined to do wonderful things on the field. The truth is that the man is going through a dry spell. While it is not common for a player to experience, it is quite fixable if the right ingredients are in place for the team.
In their last outing against the Cowboys, the Colts came up ever so short in their efforts; this led a lot of the faithful to wonder has the glory days of the colts long since passed them by? This was a game that the Colts really should have won and for all rights and means was on the path to make the Cowboys just another victim to their power. Then late in the fourth quarter, the team began to show cracks.
While Manning has dealt with his issues, there are still some players that need to get their head into the game and make the important plays later in the season. One of the biggerst areas of improvement, is that of catching the ball. Jospeh Adei is one of the players that will need to make sure that they are ready for any pass that comes at them. This is what led to the undoing of the Colts against the Cowboys, the issues that were evident, need to be gone for the rest of the season and allow for massive plays to be committed.
The running of the ball will be an important aspect that needs to be looked at carefully in the coming weeks, the more efforts that are placed on the field, then the better the results will be for the team.
2010 is a season that Peyton Manning is hoping will come to a fast end. If all goes well, then the team still can make the playoffs, the only problem is they will need to be perfect and not lose another game this season. Anything less, and the team will be out of the postseason. It is still a winnable season that can be salvaged with the right amount of effort.
